Advances of Bitcoin, cryptocurrencies and blockchain in society

The cryptocurrencies arrived willing to go through the networks and reach their users. Its users are all those in need of freedom and security. We are those fed up with the rules of the Banks of each country or Zone, without having exit.

For years Bitcoin was associated with drug trafficking, Deep Web and Aliens. Any illicit or socially reprehensible activity has been directly or indirectly linked to Bitcoin.

Although since 2015 in Europe and Spain, Bitcoin and, therefore, all cryptocurrencies, are considered as means of payment (subject to taxes and exempt from taxes)

It was in January 2018 when governments looked with greedy eyes the pockets of users. Spain in its official Gazette of January 23, 2018, page 24 dictates “will study the tax incidence of new technologies, such as blockchain and, especially, cryptocurrencies”.

But these last months the countries and institutions begin to pronounce themselves in favor of the use of cryptocurrencies. For example, for the Finance Minister of Luxembourg, Pierre Gramegna, the economies of the world do have space to incorporate cryptocurrencies, which, in his opinion, can coexist with fiat money. The Bank of Korea could have among its plans the issuance of a digital currency of the central bank (CBDC) within the framework of a series of guidelines for the cryptocurrency sector that will be announced next June.

In Chile The Chilean State Bank refuses to link to cryptocurrencies due to legal issues (May 4, 2018), however Chile’s Free Competition Court forced the reopening of Chilean exchange accounts (May 11, 2018).

Inclusion of the Blockchain

When we talk about Blockchain we stop talking about cryptocurrencies since it is a technology that revolutionizes certain areas of our coexistence.

The Blockchain is a large, fast and decentralized database, encrypted securely and incorruptible. Thus, governments and banks begin to apply the chain of blocks, being an indicator of what awaits us. Like the Bank of Canada, which accepts the Blockchain for a change of values, but doubts about the “Benefits”.

We also see Dubai, always ahead of the curve, who partnered with IBM to launch a Blockchain registry that will help companies operate under their jurisdiction. The last step in the Blockchain 2020 Strategy of the city was announced in an official press release on May 1. The Dubai Blockchain Business Registration Project will also have the participation of Smart Dubai and the Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA), while government contributions come from the Department of Economic Development.

We also see Ethiopia including the blockchain to the traceability of its coffee in a way to improve its production, since it reduces the possibility of corruption.

Now the race begins to know who is the first to arrive, but also smoke bombs are thrown and, where some support it then they deny it.

We are glad that banks include technology, that governments are in favor. But before the community grows to a point where we can not meet, remember that the most important thing in this revolution is usability. That the asymmetric encryption is very nice, but if we do not use it … if we continue acting the same, it will be no more than a concept to make tongue twisters.
